A huge thankyou to students, parents and staff who made our "Joey's Back to the 80's" performance such a success.
We were very proud of the students for the amazing show of talent on the night.
A huge thankyou once again to the hard working committee - Mrs Huggins, Mrs McGregor, Mrs Burgess and Mrs Attard for spending a lot of time behind the scenes to put the performance together and to the teachers for guiding the students with their awesome dance moves!

Gospel
Matthew 18:21-35
Jesus teaches that we must forgive one another as God has forgiven us.
Peter asks how many times one should forgive another, and he proposes a reasonable number of times, perhaps seven. Jesus replies by extending Peter's proposal by an enormous amount; not just seven times should one forgive, but 77 times. The parable of the unforgiving servant is Jesus' elaboration of his initial reply to Peter. Through the parable we come to understand the depths of God's mercy toward us and the results of our acceptance of God's forgiveness.
Reflection Day
Thursday 14th September: Confirmation Reflection Day. A Compass post went out to the candidate families last week, if you have not received/accessed this, please contact Mrs Cady at sasha.cady@cg.catholic.edu.au . The Reflection Day is at Ss' Peter & Paul's Primary. Candiates wear casual clothes, must supply their own lunch and the school has arranged for transport to and from St Joseph's for the day.
Sacrament of Confirmation.
14 students will make their Sacrament of Confirmation this weekend in Ss' Peter & Paul's Cathedral on either 6 pm Saturday 16th or 10 am Sunday 17th September.
Please remember to turn up at least 15 minutes before the Sacramental Mass, to find your pew, with the candidate in the first sitting position, closest to the aisle, and their Sponsor next to them. Fr Joshy asked if you could wear or include something white, that it would be appreciated.
Catholic Missions Month
Friday 13th October, we will raise money for Catholic Missions with SOCKTOBER. With their sports uniform, children are encourgaed to wear some fancy, funky, outrageous, cute or sporty socks, and donate a gold coin for Catholic Missions. We will also have a Prayer Focus in OLOF about Catholic Missions, which the Mini Vinnies are going to plan, organise and present to rest of the school. Naturally our school community are invited to the Prayer Focus, 2:20 pm in OLOF, and children are welcome to go home with their family member once they have returned to class after the Prayer Focus. You can go to https://www.socktober.org.au/ for more information and ideas.
Grandparents Prayer Focus
We will celebrate our Grandparents on Friday 27th October, in OLOF at 2:20 pm. We invite our loved and cherished grandparents to come and join us. However, for our grandparents who can not attend due to other commitments, they're working, live away from Goulburn, are in a nursing home or are no longer with us, if you wish to send me an image of this grandparent, with their grandchild/ren, I will put together a slide to show, so all our grandparents can be seen and loved. If you email the image to sasha.cady@cg.catholic.edu.au by FRIDAY 20TH OCTOBER at the latest. Please respect I will not accept late ones, as I will need to spend the weekend organsing and preparing the presentation, and only images of grandparents who can not attend.
Character Costume Parade
Dear Parents and Carers,
Next Tuesday 19th September for our last week of school we will hold our Book Character Costume Parade. Prizes will be awarded to classes for great work completed during library lessons during the year.
Students are to come dressed as their favourite book character on the day. All classes K-6 will have a chance to parade for others on the Reynold’s St Playground at 9:30 am.
We will also have a Book Fair taking place in the hall starting at 8:15 am and finishing at 1:30 pm. If you would like your child to purchase a book you are able to collect them and take them to the fair to buy. If you would prefer to send money, classes will be timetabled to visit the Book Fair to purchase. There will be books available for $5, $10, $20 etc
As the Book Fair is run this year by the ‘Children’s Bookshop’ (not Scholastic as in previous years) there will only be books for purchase on the day). Our school will receive 15% from all sales on that day which will help in purchasing books for our own Library.
We look forward to seeing you.

As more trials open, messages will be send out on Compass, Facebook and the newsletter. Sport and nominations dates and information can also be found at sport.cg.catholic.edu.au/nominations

Canteen News
Our school canteen is open on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
Orders need to be placed by Qkr! before 8:30am on the day of order.
Unfortunately, we have had a number students forgetting to place orders and or forgetting lunches.
Whilst we understand accidents happen it does place a large strain on our canteen and office staff to assist in these situations.
To try to avoid this, please follow some of the steps below:
- How to order – place your order using the Qkr! app or write on a paper bag and send the order in with your child.
- Order on the app and confirm the date that you have selected is for the day you require.
- If your child is selecting the food please check it before you confirm the order (we now need to limit garlic bread to students as some were ordering up to 10 in one order)
- If your child is absent and no longer is required to receive the order please cancel prior to 8:30am on the day of order.
You can receive a Qkr credit note if you tap on the 3 lines at the top left of the home screen, select ‘my receipts’ and then select the order you wish to cancel. - If your child doesn’t have a lunch and they realise before 10:00am a phone call will be made to parents to ask them to bring lunch to school for them.
If you are unable we will provide your child with a basic sandwich (vegemite or cheese) and an IOU envelope will be sent home. - IOU’s - if your child brings home an IOU envelope please either return the envelope with cash payment or alternatively you can pay for it via Qkr using the “Canteen Outstanding Amounts”
- If you are unaware of the amount currently outstanding to your child please email canteen.sjglb@cg.catholic.edu.au and we can advise.
- There is a limit of $10 for over the counter purchases. Please do not send your child in with more than this as we will not accept $50 or $20 notes.
If you need to contact the school about lunch orders, please email canteen.sjglb@cg.catholic.edu.au or contact the school office 4821 3510 before 9:30 am.
If you are able to volunteer in the canteen please contact the office or email the canteen.sjglb@cg.catholic.edu.au with your availability.
Thank you to our wonderful volunteers, we really do appreciate your time.

SPECIAL REPORT: R U OK? Day
Understanding the growing challenges related to mental health among young people is an important consideration. Anxiety, depression and self-harm are all causes for concern. Factors like academic pressure, social media, family dynamics, and societal expectations, are contributing to these issues. It's therefore crucial for parents and caregivers to take action early, remove the stigma around discussing mental health, and offer accessible support to address these issues and the wellbeing of their children.
R U OK? contributes to suicide prevention year round by urging people to invest time in personal relationships and empowering informal support networks to identify signs of distress. We urge all families to take part, emphasising the value of genuine human relationships and reminding everyone to ask the important question, “Are you OK?”
Engaging in R U OK?Day activities goes beyond the classroom; it's a commitment to our students' overall development. By talking openly about mental health, schools create safe spaces where students feel understood, valued, and supported. As parents and caregivers, you can contribute by fostering open conversations, normalising feelings and breaking down mental health stigmas. Participating in R U OK?Day promotes compassion and shows our dedication to the wellbeing of the entire school community, reaffirming that together, we can truly make a difference.
This Special Report provides guidance on how to talk to your child about mental health and engage in meaningful discussions. We hope you take a moment to reflect on the information offered, and as always, we welcome your feedback. If this raises any concerns for you, a loved one or the wellbeing of your child, please consider seeking medical or professional help.

Hi everyone!
Don't forget to check your summer uniforms!!
Students will return in term three wearing their summer uniforms. The first day back will be a Tuesday and students will be in their sports uniform. I will be filling orders up until next Thursday due to the fun and fitness fair on the last day of term.
All orders must be in before 9:30am Thursday, 21 September in order for you to receive them before the holidays. I will not be filling any orders again until school returns.
If you receive a uniform and need to exchange it, it must be in original packaging with the tag on in order for it to be returned.
